June lived a full life even if her friends didn’t think so. Romance and youth weren’t what she chose to pursue, and she had nothing to add polite chatter about her social life and suitors.
Yet, fate had something in store for her. An old neighbourhood acquaintance returned to her life. He was friendly, but intrusive and uncomfortable.
She picked up on his cues and responded to his courtship in a way that she thought he wanted her too.
But it was autumn, and love was out of season for June.
The new face-paint and silk dress wasn’t who she wanted to be.
But love could also be timeless, if she did it her way.
