‘Tudung’ was your most-watched, most-loved, most-talked about short film last month!
Tank top, mini shorts, a cavalier attitude towards life — that’s Sara. Sara shows up again in Nora’s life after five years.
She’s unwed and pregnant, a far cry from the pious lifestyle her sister leads.
They haven’t seen each other in five years, but are inexplicably forced to live together due to their circumstances.
Egged on by busybodies in the neighbourhood, Nora’s resentment towards her sister grows. Tempers are short. They’re sarcastic, they snap at each other.
Her sister may have stumbled in life, but Nora doesn’t want to be responsible for her.
They then realise that they cannot keep living up to other people’s expectations, without thinking critically about what it means to be sisters.
Here’s how they unveiled their own truths.
‘Tudung’ was directed by N Thilagan, and written by Nadiyah Rahmat for her Ngee Ann Polytechnic’s Film, Sound & Video course.
