It’s unfair. Everything she worked for could be gone forever.
Two households, two family albums, two of everything. One Charlie.
Charlie is a domestic helper in Hong Kong employed by a loving family to care for their home and children. She’s finally retiring. It’s an emotional roller coaster.
She’s looking forward to returning home, and reconnecting with her grown son, now a man. But he’s become a stranger, distant, unfamiliar, and determined to live his own life, his way.
Her sacrifices, fear, homesickness, anxiety — the same emotions from 20 years ago rattle her again. If home is where the heart is, hers is a broken, broken home.
Here’s how she realised that the boy and the home she loved wasn’t the same anymore.
But she was determined to make the best of it, because it was her homecoming.
