His uncle has left for the city, his mother prefers to be distant and uncontactable, and his father is all but a memory.
Man isn’t an orphan, but nobody’s coming back for him.
With the sea as his everlasting companion, and with the villagers’ stories and folktale of a mermaid mother, he continues to hope. There was a reason he was left behind, and he wasn’t abandoned.
He believed in the fairytale. And he prayed.
