As a star pitcher in baseball, Cheng’s entire teenage life has been building to this — the moment where his dreams of playing in the big leagues become a reality.


What he didn’t plan for was the injured hand and the impressive second string pitcher who was inching into his limelight.

The American scouts were watching his every move like a hawk. The pressure was tremendous, crushing; he could barely keep his wits together.


At the final game of the year, he commits his whole self to the field.
